ArtAdvice

School of Art majors are encouraged to subscribe to the ArtAdvice electronic mailing list. ArtAdvice is used by the School of Art Academic Advising & Student Services Office to distribute information to prospective and current art, art history & design majors. Information includes special announcements, dates and deadlines, policies that affect art majors,and more. (subscribe to the list).

ArtExperience

ArtExperience is a Catalyst GoPost message board managed by the School of Art Academic Advising and Student Services Office where you can find constantly updated information about events at the School of Art, the UW, and the local arts community, internship/career opportunities and more!

ArtsLink

ArtsLink is a collaborative advising community, created and run by UW Academic Advisers in the arts and a student advisory board. We're working hard to get you connected to faculty, courses, resources, and opportunities here at UW! Getting a degree in the arts at the University of Washington opens endless doors, and hope hope through the use of this arts hub, you can explore the vast possibilities of your education!

  • ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale) is the only worldwide organization dedicated to type and typography. Founded in 1957, ATypI provides the structure for communication, information and action amongst the international type community.
  • The Corporate Design Foundation is a national organization devoted to improving the quality of life and effectiveness of organizations through design. The current and past issues of organization's journal, @issue, clearly communicate the role of design in business and society.
  • The Design Council is a British design organization dedicated to inspiring and enabling the best use of design by the UK to improve prosperity and well-being. Includes substantial information on industrial design.
  • The American Institute of Graphic Arts is the largest national professional organization of graphic designers. The AIGA provides an excellent Career Guide on their site which thoroughly describes the field of design and design education to prospective students.
  • The International Council of Graphic Design Associations is the largest world-wide organization of professional graphic designers. Visit the Icograda calendar/event list to find design conferences and events throughout the United States.
  • The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. Many of their graphic design exhibitions have been accompanied by award winning websites, which are archived online.
  • Design Observer is a highly regarded blog covering design and culture. Design Observer was founded in October 2003 by Michael Bierut, William Drenttel, Jessica Helfand & Rick Poynor.
