Program Selection

Visual Communication Design BFA Program

At the end of their first year as Design majors, all Design sophomores are selected into the specific design majors (VCD, ID and DS) based on a faculty review of their interests and demonstrated abilities.

Design faculty will distribute the major selection form in one of the Spring quarter sophomore studios by Tuesday May 4, 2010.

Students must fill in and return the form before Tuesday, May 11, 2010 with their UW transcript attached (unofficial transcripts are okay).

Faculty meet after the Spring quarter grades are in (June 16, 2010) and select students for each major based on their performance in all six of the sophomore studios. Every attempt is made to match students with their first choice, but some students may receive their second or third choice.

Art Advising will notify sophomore students of their assigned major via email by Friday, June 25, 2010.

Please note that all major assignments are final. The Division of Design does not allow students to shift between majors in the Junior and Senior years.
