Since 1978, remarkable graduates from Photomedia have flourished as exhibiting artists, curators, public artists, business professionals, journalists, producers, commercial photographers, scholars, professors, teachers, and arts administrators.

Our undergraduate and graduate student alumni continue to make significant impacts regionally, nationally, and internationally as evidenced by the high profile exhibitions, collections, reviews, residencies, teaching positions, graduate school acceptances, art residencies, and variety of professional employment.

National awards include Creative Capital Grants, Sante Fe Prize, Fulbright Awards, Joan Mitchell Foundation Award, En Foco Fellowship, and the Pollock-Krasner Fellowship. Alumni have attended residencies as varied as the Core Program, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture; Clark College; Djerassi Residency Program; Vermont Studio Center; Bemis Residency; Jentel Artist Residency; Oregon College of Art and Craft; and the Center for Photography at Woodstock.

Top awards in Washington State include The Betty Bowen Award, Artist Trust Washington State Fellowship Awards, Artist Trust GAP Grants, 4Culture Awards, The Stranger Genius Award, Artist Trust Innovator’s Award, the Neddy at Cornish Award, and The Henry Art Gallery Brink Award.

Alumni have had solo and group exhibitions in hundreds of venues nationally and internationally. They are well-represented in Seattle galleries including James Harris Gallery, Greg Kucera Gallery, G. Gibson Gallery, the Henry Art Gallery permanent collection, Platform Gallery, SOIL Gallery, and Gallery4Culture. Their work has been featured in significant collections and monographs.

Our undergraduates have attended prestigious graduate schools including UCLA; Cal Arts; The San Francisco Art Institute; Art Center; Duke University; The Chicago Art Institute; Yale Norfolk Program of Yale University; Rochester Institute of Technology; NYU Tisch School of the Arts; University of New Mexico; Harvard University School of Architecture; University of Wisconsin; Goldsmiths College of Art, London; and Arizona State University to name a few.

Alumni teach at major institutions including Kansas City Art Institute, Columbia College Chicago, Rutgers University, University of New Mexico, University of Oregon, University of North Carolina, Rhode Island School of Design, UC Irvine, Fresno State University, and Columbus College of Art and Design.
