The BFA in Painting

Students pursuing a BFA degree in painting and drawing follow a broadly based curriculum which includes courses in drawing, painting, studio electives, and art history.

Over the course of their education students move from the fundamentals of drawing to more complex and individual problems. This culminates in Art 494, Senior Thesis Seminar in Drawing and Painting. In this course students are assigned an individual studio space and are expected to develop a body of work which weds the knowledge they have acquired to a burgeoning individual vision. The body of work produced in this course often serves as the basis for graduate school application.
