Degree Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Art History
Art History Images

Students study the creation, style and meaning of works of art in relation to the artists and societies that produced them. Classes involve lecture and discussion concerned with the interaction of artistic styles, techniques, concepts, personalities and social values occurring in a variety of cultural contexts. Because of the comparative nature of art history, students are expected to acquire skills derived from the related study of history and culture, foreign languages and literature, iconography, stylistic analysis, and connoisseurship. The Honors Program and the Art History Seminar in Rome are available to qualified majors.
