School of Art > Art, Art History, and Design


Welcome. Three primary divisions--Art, Art History, and Design--make up the foundation of the School of Art. The Division of Art gives students the skills necessary to produce art in a studio environment and think critically about issues from an historic and cultural point of view. The Division of Art History promotes the investigation of cultures under visual, philosophic, and historic contexts through research and analysis. The Division of Design operates under the principles of visual communication and human centered needs, through graphic design and industrial design. Students also have the chance to Study Abroad in Rome, where mentors will introduce them to classical works of art and architecture, inspiring their own research and production.

We have demonstrated equal success with our Public Art program. Students take part in thorough experimentation where issues of public and private art come into question through interdisciplinary collaborations.
