School of Art Graduation Celebration 2013

All UW Art, Art History and Design students graduating in Autumn 2012, Winter 2013, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 are invited to attend the 2013 School of Art Graduation Celebration.

SoA Graduation Celebration information is mailed and emailed to graduating students in mid-April. Tickets are required for both students and guests. Students must register before May 31st in order to receive up to four tickets – one for the graduating student and three for family and/or friends.

The festivities will include a procession of graduating students; presentation of awards; keynote speaker Renee Erickson, SoA Alum (BFA Painting + Drawing 1995), award-winning chef and entrepreneur; and the presentation of certificates to students from School of Art faculty. Wearing of traditional cap and gown is encouraged – you can order cap and gown from uwgraduation.com between May 6-26, 2013.

Tickets to the SoA Graduation Celebration are limited because Kane Hall has a maximum occupancy limit strictly enforced by the fire marshall. We cannot guarantee that additional tickets will become available, but if they do we will distribute them to those who sign up on the ticket waitlist.

If you would like to invite a large group of  friends and family, please consider attending the UW Commencement Ceremonies at CenturyLink Field on June 15th. The Commencement Office tries to ensure that students are able to invite as many family and friends as they wish. More information is available from the Commencement website.

The culminating exhibition for graduating Master of Fine Arts and Master of Design students. The graduating students are Jared Bender, Phillip Carpenter, Carly Cummings, Lacy Draper, Mike Fretto, Kari Gaynor, Dakota Gearhart, Meg Hartwig, Margarita Iordache, Dave Kennedy, Stephanie Klausing, Josh Nelson, Adriel Rollins, Travis-David Smith, Melanie Wang, Marcus Watson, and Ryan Weatherly. The Henry also has an event post for the show.

This year’s catalog is now available online. It was designed by Daphne Hsu, a senior in Visual Communication Design.

Henry Art Gallery hours are normally 11am-4pm on Wednesday, 11am-9pm on Thursday and Friday, and 11am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Admission is free to: Henry members; UW students, faculty, and staff with ID; high school and college students with ID; children 13 years and under; and on the first Thursday of each month. For all others, the suggested admission donation is $10 general and $6 for people 62+.

UW Alumni Association members will want to consider attending the Arts Dawgs event at this show on 20 June 2013.

Students in this quarter’s Interdisciplinary Visual Arts capstone class with Lecturer Timea Tihanyi are presenting their work in this one-night exhibition that is part of the University District Alley Art Party. There will be music and food as well as art. Included in the show is work by Red Balansay, Marisa Bautista, Cathea Carey, Kelly Dao, Taylor Denning, Samantha Frank, Miguel Hansen, Jesse Holcomb, Claire Hopkins, Min Kim, William Leahy, Michelle Lee, Tiran Long, Kristina Merryman, Yuji Pearce, Eric Seremek, Noah Sisk, Beau Sterling, Jennelyn Tumalad, Ellen Van Wyk, Jess Yu, and Mari Zeng.
