Applying for graduate school can seem like a daunting task. Where do you begin? What can you expect? How does the process work? Start by investigating our graduate programs in Art, Art History, or Design. You'll also want to learn about the role of the Graduate School in the application process so that you can successfully navigate graduate admissions at the UW.

The Division of Art offers Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degrees in three areas: Photo/MediaPainting + Drawing, and 3D4M: ceramics + glass + sculpture.

The Division of Art History offers a master's degree (MA) thesis track, master's degree (MA) practicum track, and a doctorate degree (PhD).

Application Deadlines

The deadline for all applicants (U.S Citizen, Permanent Resident or International) to submit both online applications and all required application materials is 11:50pm (PST) January 15. Late applications will not be accepted and incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Applicants can track whether application materials have been received by logging back in to their UW Graduate School Application. Faculty typically makes admissions decisions in February and March. You will be notified of our decision via e-mail.
