Admission to the Major: Photomedia

Admission to the BA in Art requires a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Current UW Students / Freshmen & Sophomores

  • Complete ART 140 in Spring quarter
  • Submit your portfolio from ART 140 at the end of Spring quarter for admission to ART 240 in Autumn quarter
  • After completing ART 240 in Autumn quarter, students submit a final portfolio for selection into the Photomedia major
  • Students are strongly encouraged to declare their major early in their academic career; University policy requires that students declare a major by the time they have accumulated 105 credits

Prospective Transfer Students

  • Apply for admission to the UW for Summer or Autumn quarter
  • In mid-August, submit a portfolio of photography work completed at your previous college(s) for admission to ART 240 in Autumn quarter
  • After completing ART 240 in Autumn quarter, students submit a final portfolio for selection into the Photomedia major
  • A maximum of 15 transfer credits of studio art classes may be applied towards the ART credits required for the BA in Art

CURRENTLY ENROLLED UW STUDENTS

  • Instructions for assembling your portfolio are outlined in the 2016 Photomedia Application 
  • Bring your portfolio to the Academic Advising Office (Room 104, Art Building) on Wednesday, June 1
  • After you submit your portfolio you will sign up for an interview on Thursday, June 2 (15 minute slots between noon-2pm)

NEW TRANSFER STUDENTS ADMITTED FOR AUTUMN 2016

  • Instructions for assembling your portfolio are outlined in the 2016 Photomedia Application 
  • Bring your portfolio to the Academic Advising Office (Room 104, Art Building) on Tuesday, August 16, 10:30 am–12:30 pm
  • Advisers will arrange for you to have an interview with the faculty on Wednesday, August 17th for a 30-minute time slot between 10:30 – 12:30pm
