Visual Services staff are here to help faculty, students, and staff with their image needs for teaching, presentations, and class assignments.
The School has an in-house MDID digital image database. Visual Services staff will add images to this database when requested by School faculty, students, and staff. Please stop by room 209, call 543-0649, or email to discuss an image order.
Artstor, a subscription database through UW Libraries, is another major image source. Access the database through this webpage since UW NetID login is required when accessing Artstor from off campus.
Visual Services staff are happy to show people how to use these databases and related presentation tools.
Images from these databases are intended for use by current UW faculty, staff, and students for purposes related to the UW teaching mission. Other uses may be a violation of the U.S. Copyright Code.
Simulacrum provides tips about using MDID, Artstor, and presentation tools like PowerPoint as well as links to other sources of teaching images. Updates are made periodically.
Visual Services staff support faculty in making study images available to students in SoA+AH+D classes. Students may access these images through the UW’s installation of Canvas. Questions about image reserves may be made via email or by calling 543-0649.
When faculty, students, or staff have problems with presentation equipment in classrooms, they can call 543-0649 or send someone to room 209 to request assistance. Issues may also be reported after class by sending an email to Visual Services staff.
