Established in 2021, the UW School of Art + Art History + Design Free Materials Library contains new and gently used art supplies and books for current art, art history and design students. Enrolled students are invited to take up to 5 items per visit. 

The Free Materials Library is organized by the School's Advising Office and is made possible thanks to the generous support from the College of Arts & Sciences and donations from our alumni community, Blick Art Material, and UW Recycling.

Winter 2025 Hours: Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Closed during all school breaks and UW holidays.

Donations

Types of Donations

New and gently used art and design supplies are highly sought after by our students. We also welcome donations of books related to art, art history and design. We currently teach classes on painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sculpture, photography, videoart, printmaking, social practice, industrial design, visual communication design, and interaction design. We cannot accept donations of any aerosol sprays or chemical-based solvents.

Making Donations

Bring items to the Advising Office in Room 104 of the Art Building (open Monday – Friday, 9-12pm and 1–3pm). Staff can also meet you in the loading dock area on the west side of the Art building.  For questions and to make arrangements, call 206-543-0646 or email uaskart@uw.edu.
