These special achievement awards, presented in autumn to undergraduate majors from each of the School’s three divisions, honor students who demonstrate academic achievement, creative excellence, outstanding performance, and financial need in the School and at the University of Washington.

Scholarships for New Undergraduates: Crabby Beach & Hinckley-Martin

If you are a new freshman or transfer student starting at the UW in fall quarter, and you're planning to major in art, art history or design, you may be eligible to apply for a Crabby Beach Foundation or Kathryn Hinckley-Martin Scholarship in Art.

These $5000 awards are designed to honor your past academic achievements and help you develop an equally impressive record at the University of Washington.

The 2023-24 application is now closed.
The 2024-25 application will open June 2024.

Pilchuck Scholarship

The renowned Pilchuck Glass School partners with the School each year to offer a combined scholarship that covers the cost of a summer course at Pilchuck.

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate art, art history or design majors in the School are eligible to apply.

The 2024 application is now closed. Next application (for 2025 Summer class at Pilchuck) will open November 2024.

Summer courses at Pilchuck cost between $2500-3000 each. This scholarship covers the cost of the class chosen by the winning applicant (but no more than the cost of the class).  Visit Pilchuck's 2024 COURSE CATALOG to view available courses and dates:

Graduating with Excellence Awards

The annual Graduating with Excellence Awards are given to the top undergraduate student from each of the School’s three divisions. These awards were created to acknowledge students whose academic achievements, creative excellence, and outstanding performance in the School and at the University of Washington put them at the top of their class.

Eligible undergraduate students are nominated for these awards by their faculty in Spring quarter. Recipients are honored at the School’s Graduation Celebration in June.
