Cheng Edits ARCADE 31.4

Submitted on September 1, 2013 - 1:00am

Visual Communication Design Professor Karen Cheng, who is also the Donald E. Petersen Professor in the Arts, is celebrating the launch of ARCADE issue 31.4 on Thursday, 12 September 2013. “Designing Data” is the theme of this issue, which Cheng edited. At least three alumni will have work included in this issue: Owen Irianto (BFA 2008), Amy Keeling (MDes 2012), and Tanya Test (BFA 2010). Daphne Hsu (BDes 2013) and current Bachelor of Design student Hart Boyd worked with Cheng and Jayme Yen on the cover, interior photography, and styling. Editing an issue of ARCADE is not new to Cheng, she co-edited a 2012 issue with faculty member Annabelle Gould.

ARCADE is sponsoring a lecture by Cheng as part of the 2013 Seattle Design Festival. Her lecture is also titled “Designing Data” and will take place on Thursday, 19 September 2013.

More than 30 years old, ARCADE is a Seattle-based nonprofit that fosters the sharing of ideas about design and the built environment.
