The Seattle Symphony performed Become Ocean by Pulitzer Prize winner John Luther Adams at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 6, 2014. For this special occasion, the symphony commissioned accessories from Division of Art alumnus Michael Cepress (MFA 2006). Cepress created silk ties, pocket squares, and scarves in blue and green ocean hues. You can read about Cepress’ experience in a Seattle Times article and in his recent blog post. The post includes links to several other press pieces about the performance and Cepress’ role in this project.

Cepress’ work is also part of an exhibition that opened at the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, OR, on 09 May 2014. The show, titled Fashioning Cascadia: The Social Life of the Garment, will run through 11 October 2014. Also included in the exhibition is Division of Design alumna Anna Telcs (BFA 2003).
