United States Artists, an organization based in Chicago, announced this year’s USA Fellows on November 10, 2015. Among the 37 selected from over 400 nominees was Ayumi Horie (MFA 2000). It is a huge honor to be selected as a fellow, and each fellow receives an unrestricted $50,000 award.

Since 2006, nearly 450 artists in architecture/design, crafts, dance, literature, media, music, theater/performance, traditional arts, and visual arts have been designated as USA Fellows. Professor Emeritus Akio Takamori was selected as a USA Ford Fellow in 2011. Others with School of Art + Art History + Design connections who have won in the past are: Jenny E. Sabin (BA/BFA 1998), Roger Shimomura (BFA 1961), and Tip Toland (visiting artist/instructor).
