On April 6, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation announced the winners of the 2016 Fellowships for the United States and Canada. Painting + Drawing Professor Helen O’Toole is on the list. She and two other University of Washington professors were among the 178 recipients selected from nearly 3,000 applications “on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise.” The three are profiled in a UW Today article. O’Toole is one of 23 Fine Arts category recipients. The Fellowships are awarded in a variety of fields in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and creative arts.
