David Mendoza

Some of his accomplishments:

• Manager and then director at Foster White Gallery in Seattle.
• Assistant to Kitty Carlisle Hart, director of the New York State Counil on the Arts.
• Helped found Artist Trust with Anne Focke and others then served as its founding director.
• Executive director of the National Campaign for Freedom of Expression.
• Ongoing board member for Art Matters.

Since 1998 he has lived in Bali, working with local artistans to produce batik with natural dyes then creating clothing and household items from the cloth. View his website for this work.

Mendoza is one of the earliest recipients of an undergraduate degree in Art History from the UW. He may be the only person to have ever received a BFA in that major.
