Biography
Jiye’s research interest falls in the transcultural interaction across Eurasia during the first millennium BCE. As a graduate of the Department of History at Fudan University, China, she is well trained in working with textual evidence, particularly classical Chinese materials. Aware of the limitations of textual sources, Jiye turned to material and visual culture during her junior and senior years, a shift that ultimately led her to pursue a master’s degree in art history.
Beyond her academic research, Jiye is enthusiastic about protecting and promoting endangered cultural heritage. As a member of the international volunteer group "Guardians of Gandhara", she has participated in cultural heritage promotion projects in Pakistan, such as generating an audio tour guide for the Swat Museum, translating archaeological reports, and designing social media content to raise awareness of Pakistan’s cultural legacy.
In the next stage of her career, Jiye hopes to explore the art and archaeology of the Inner Asian steppe and its connections with the Central Plain China. She is also eager to engage broader audiences by introducing art historical and archaeological knowledge to the public through exhibitions and other forms of outreach.
