Other News

Assistant Professor Meichun Liu recently received a Kreielsheimer and Jones Large Grant (co-PI with Afroditi Psarra, DXART) for the project "The Skin Remembers: E-textiles that Sense, Remember, and Respond", and a Global Innovation Fund (GIF) Grant in support of the Design in Taiwan study abroad program. Liu was also awarded the Digital Humanities Summer Fellowship from the Simpson Center for the Humanities for "Touching Tacit Knowledge".

Assistant Professor Leila Weefur received a Global Innovation Fund (GIF) Grant in support of the development of their feature-length essay film, Turning West / تغريب*.

Curated by Ellen Ito, Agents of Change at the Behnke Family Gallery features all eight of this year’s Neddy Awards finalists, including Associate Professor Sangram Majumbar, who is the award winner in the Painting category, and alums Dana Blume (MFA '23) and ralph salazar (MFA '25). The show is on view through September 12, 2026. Details here. 

The Henry Art Gallery hosted the 2026 MFA and MDes Thesis Exhibitions from May 16 through June 14, showcasing the work of this year's graduating students. Read coverage from The Daily.

Congratulations to Art History graduate Troy Sherman, who was awarded the Allan and Mary Kollar Endowed Fellowship for the 2026–27 academic year.

Congratulations to retired faculty member Ellen Garvens, who was named one of ten recipients of the 2026 SOLA Awards. Presented annually, the awards recognize Washington women visual artists age 60 and older who have dedicated 25 years or more to their artistic practice. Read the announcement.

Pratt Fine Arts Center is now accepting applications for its 2026–2027 scholarship cycle, offering over $38,100 in support across 14 awards.The deadline is July 12, 2026. They also have a few instructor positions available.
