Biography

Hamacher was a full-time lecturer for the interdisciplinary Masters in Human Computer Interaction and Design (mHCI+D) during the 2015–2016 and 2016–2017 academic years.

My interest is in crossroads. Where creative and analytical disciplines meet. Where humans and technology intersect. Where the digital and analog merge. The overlay between arts and sciences. The bridge between academic and commercial institutions and practices.

I teach in both the Master of Human-Computer Interaction + Design (MHCI+D) program and the Division of Design in the School of Art + Art History + Design. My background was initially as a fine artist working in intaglio and traditional woodblock printmaking (BA, University of Puget Sound), then visual communication (BFA, Cornish College of the Arts), and I received an MS in Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington with a focus in user centered design. I was Director of User Experience for connected services division of Fortune 500 company Harman (I founded and led the team at Symphony Teleca/Aditi Technologies whom they aquired), the lead UX designer at NCSOFT/ArenaNet (makers of MMORPG Guild Wars 2), and the founding Interactive Art Director/UX Architect for Slalom Consulting. I also have run my own experience design consultancy, Tellous, for the past 10 years - it currently serves as an outlet for socially conscious design and creative endeavors while I teach.
