Computer + Printing Lab
The Photo/Media + New Genres Digital Lab provides ten high-powered workstations equipped with photo editing monitors and six print stations where students learn fine art printing techniques. There are also high-end video stations so Photo/Media students can edit 4K video projects.
Computer + Printing Equipment
Our professional digital printers can print a range of sizes up to 44-inch wide. In-house computers, scanners, and printers include:
- Eight Mac Mini and two Mac Studio workstations with professional video and photo editing displays
- Epson V700 and Epson V850 flatbed scanners
- Six Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printers
- Epson 44” wide printer
Darkroom
The Photo/Media Darkroom offers space for Photo/Media undergraduate and New Genres graduate students to develop black & white film along with thirteen stations for enlargements.
Lighting Studio
The Lighting Studio offers a space with soft boxes, continuous lighting, a green screen, and multiple seamless background options.
Sound Studio
The Sound Studio is where Art students can create and mix audio, as well as record audio using the whisper room isolation booth. It features an acoustically-treated mixing space with studio monitors, MIDI controllers, and a Mac Studio with Logic Pro, Ableton, and other professional audio mixing software. Student access from other UW programs is granted on a case-by-case basis.
Equipment Checkout
Digital still cameras, video cameras, film cameras, sound equipment, lighting equipment, projectors, and various audio/visual accessories are available for checkout to Photo/Media undergraduates and New Genres graduate students.
The equipment checkout room is adjoined to the Photo/Media + New Genres digital lab, and checkout hours are M-F, 10am–5pm.
Due to the limited quantity and high demand for program equipment, we only check out equipment to Photo/Media and New Genres majors or students enrolled in corresponding courses. Art, Art History, and Design students can visit the Equipment Checkout in room 023, and students outside of the School of Art + Art History + Design can visit STLP for technology rentals.
