Using the city of London as a classroom, we will explore and compare contemporary art with historical art through visits to art museums, galleries, churches, palaces, and private homes. Students will document their experiences in journals, sketchbooks, and digital media. Drawing, photography, and video will serve as tools for observation, helping students visually analyze and record what they see. No prior art experience or instruction is necessary for this course. Pre-departure orientations will include workshops on photography and videography. A list of artists relevant to London's past and present art scenes will provide context for discussions and critiques.
