Each spring, The Stranger selects a short list of finalists in five categories for their arts Genius Awards. 2013 is the tenth anniversary of these awards, and the School of Art had three alumni among the finalists in two categories: Sherry Markovitz (MFA 1975) and Rodrigo Valenzuela (MFA 2012) in Visual Art and Juniper Shuey (BFA 2001), with his partner Zoe Scofield, in Performance. Winners in each category are announced at a big party in the autumn. On 28 September 2013, Valenzuela won as did Shuey and Scofield. Congratulations!
