Submitted on October 28, 2016 - 3:00pm

Scott Lawrimore, Director of the Jacob Lawrence Gallery at the University of Washington School of Art + Art History + Design, has announced his resignation effective January 1, 2017, to pursue new adventures out of state. The Gallery has undergone both a physical and philosophical renovation during Lawrimore’s tenure and these changes will serve as a strong foundation for the Gallery’s successful future.

The Gallery Director position is now open for applications. Named after the School’s most acclaimed emeritus faculty member, the "Jake’s" primary mission is to showcase the work of faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students. It also hosts unique exhibitions and events to draw in new audiences to the School and engage in broader discussions about art and society. This position provides curatorial, operational, and administrative leadership for the Gallery, along with publicity and installation oversight. This position has a significant outreach role and works in close partnership with the Director of the School and the Gallery committee.

Applications for this position are only accepted through the University of Washington’s online application system. View the full position description and apply.

To ensure consideration, applications should be submitted by November 17, 2016.
