Each year, a committee from the Husky Union Building (HUB) attends our School's graduation exhibitions and selects work to be purchased for the HUB's art collection. A painting titled Juan Jose by Arely Morales was chosen this year. It was exhibited at the 2017 MFA + MDes Thesis Exhibition at the Henry Art Gallery. The location in the HUB is being selected, so look for it during autumn quarter.

Morales recently said, "It's been an honor to be chosen for the HUB Director's Art Prize. I feel very thankful that one of my paintings will always remain at the University of Washington, which is a very special place that I hold dear to my heart and that helped me grow so much as an artist. The award [$4,500] could not have come at a better time since I recently relocated to Texas to start my career."
