The King County cultural funding agency announced over $1 million in project grants in mid-June. A faculty member, current graduate student, and several alums are among the recipients.
Timea Tihanyi (Interdisciplinary Visual Arts Senior Lecturer and MFA 2003), Arts Individual Projects grant of $4,500 for a project titled Ruled Surfaces: 3D printed ceramics. Note that she also received a CityArtist Project grant of $4,250 from the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture in early 2018 for related work.
Juan Franco (Art History MA student), Arts Group Project grant of $4,500 for festival:festival 2018, which takes place on August 10 and 11.
Barbara Johns (PhD 2014), Arts Individual Projects grant of $6,500 and Heritage Projects grant of $5,000 for a project titled Kenjiro Nomura: An Artist's Life in Painting.
Katie Miller (BFA 2003), Arts Individual Projects grant of $4,500 for a project titled Transformation.
David Jaewon Oh (BFA 2010), Arts Individual Projects grant of $4,500 for a project titled Combatants.
W. Scott Trimble (MFA 2003), Arts Individual Projects grant of $2,500 for a project with the working title Resonant Scaffolds.
