Biography
Kendrick Ma is a product designer whose practice bridges interaction design, storytelling, and technology. He just completed his studies in Interaction Design at the University of Washington, where he explored how design can transform everyday experiences into meaningful, human-centered encounters.
His background spans product design, research, and immersive media, with a focus on making complex systems more approachable through intuitive design. Kendrick has worked with startups and small teams, experiences that allowed him to take on multiple roles, experiment with new ideas, and understand the fast-moving dynamics of early-stage design work. Building on this foundation, he went on to intern at Oracle, where he contributed to large-scale design projects within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment. This experience gave him insight into the impact of design in global systems and strengthened his ability to navigate complexity through thoughtful, human-centered decisions. Together, these opportunities have shaped his perspective on how design practice adapts across different scales and contexts.
At the core of Kendrick’s practice is a commitment to design as a tool for connection. He is interested in how interfaces facilitate not only functionality but also shared experiences that strengthen community. His work often reflects a sensitivity to context, whether that means translating technical processes into simple, intuitive workflows or creating collaborative experiences that spark joy and curiosity.
As an emerging designer, Kendrick is equally inspired by the communities that have shaped his growth. From collaborating closely with peers and mentors to engaging with design gatherings and workshops, he has come to see design as more than a professional pursuit. Looking ahead, Kendrick seeks to continue exploring how emerging technologies, such as extended reality and interactive media, can be harnessed to tell stories, encourage curiosity, and create more meaningful interactions. His practice reflects a balance between clarity and imagination, always with the goal of designing experiences that bring people closer together.
