Once again, several Division of Art faculty (and one graduate student) have shown or will show their work beyond western Washington State.

Painting + Drawing Professor David Brody had a solo show titled Sex, Death, and Geometry: A Thirty-Year Retrospective at Sarah Spurgeon Gallery, Central Washington University, Ellensburg, WA. The exhibition was from 07 November 2013 through 08 December 2013.

Photomedia Associate Professor Rebecca Cummins will be traveling to Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX, during early April 2014. She will present a lecture and create a campus artwalk with workshop participants.

Photomedia Professor Ellen Garvens is showing Nightwatch, a solo show, at Humboldt State University’s First Street Gallery in Eureka, CA. The exhibition opened on 31 January 2014 and runs through 02 March 2014.

Painting + Drawing Professor Denzil Hurley had work included in ac•qui•si•tions: A Selection from the Past Decade at the Old Jail Art Center in Albany, TX. The show opened on 28 September 2013 and closed on 19 January 2014.

3D4M Associate Professor Doug Jeck has work in Dark Matter, which is the Boehm Gallery Ceramics Biennial. The exhibition opened on 23 January 2014 and runs through 21 February 2014. The gallery is part of Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. He also has artwork in Migration Narratives at the Pelham Art Center in Pelham, NY. That exhibition opened on 31 January 2014 and closes on 29 March 2014.

Painting + Drawing Professor Zhi Lin showed Chinaman’s Chance as part of the 3rd Hubei Fine Arts Festival and the 1st Hubei International Festival of Contemporary Art in China. The exhibition was from 26 December 2013 through 31 December 2013. He also co-organized and co-chaired an international symposium in Wuhan, China, in early October 2013. The event was titled “Contemporary Art and Research: Text, Research, Theory, and Practice,” and participants came from United States, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, as well as China.

Painting + Drawing MFA graduate student Abe Murley had a one-man show at Winchester Galleries in Victoria, BC. Titled Encounters, the exhibition was up 08 October through 26 October 2013.

3D4M Professor Akio Takamori had a one-man show titled Pots, Prints, Sculptures at Trax Gallery in Berkeley, CA. The exhibition opened 12 October 2013 and went through 03 November 2013.

3D4M Professor Jamie Walker was one of three artists invited to show his interpretation of a traditional Italian vessel in the 18th annual Vaselle d’Autore. The exhibition took place in Torgiano, Perugia, Italy, and it ran from 10 November 2013 through 10 December 2013.
