One current MDes student, Catherine Lim, and two 2015 BDes graduates—Jennifer Cheng and Tyler Sinclair Monteferrante—won a 2015 Ideas that Matter grant from Sappi North America. Their project, Archivo: Toolkit of Self-Documentation, received $18,000 for further development. The awards were announced on September 17.
Archivo, which is a “Branded booklet, filing system, and document case to guide undocumented immigrants through the process of collecting and preparing applications for deferred action, so that working families can stay together,” was developed outside of classes. Professor Karen Cheng advised them on the Sappi application.
