In honor of the Jacob Lawrence Gallery’s namesake, the 2016 Jake Legacy Artist-in-Residence is Brooklyn-based Steffani Jemison. Jemison is a conceptual artist whose work uses improvisation, repetition, and fugitivity as formal strategies across multiple media. During her period in residence, Jemison is building an exhibition and facilitating a series of research and performance workshops.
There are still two more workshop sessions at the Gallery:
Session 1: Monday, January 18, 6pm
Session 2: Wednesday, January 20, 1pm
Steffani Jemison: Sol opens on Tuesday, January 19, 5-8pm.
