President's Office Features Faculty Work

Submitted on December 5, 2016 - 2:20pm

The UW President’s suite in Gerberding Hall has new art. Paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, and more created by eleven of our Division of Art faculty are now displayed in the reception areas and boardroom. These works celebrate and honor the research mission that defines the University. The exhibit will rotate annually with future plans to include student work along with contributions by faculty from the Divisions of Art History and Design.

While the idea to feature work from School faculty has been simmering since 2015, the project was completed in autumn 2016. Installation was done by Scott Lawrimore, Director of the Jacob Lawrence Gallery. Custom display plinths for several pieces — created to harmonize with existing wood paneling in the rooms — were made by John Martin, Instructional Technician, who manages our Woodshop.
