Although most schools, colleges, and universities have already welcomed students to the new academic year, the UW maintains the tradition of offering classes within a quarter system resulting in a late September start of autumn quarter.

Welcome to the new website for the School of Art + Art History + Design. The creation of this site involved more than a dozen people and took over a year to complete.

The School is very pleased to announce the hiring of two tenure-track faculty who begin teaching in early 2017. We have also hired five full-time lecturers who will teach during the 2016-2017 academic year.

The School is happy to name Anne Focke as the Alum in Residence for the 2016-2017 academic year. This is a new role, and it will be shaped largely by the person who holds the position.

Following the model of the UW College Board, the School Advisory Board has launched an opportunity for board members to take a professor to lunch in an effort to become better-informed advocates for the School.

With the start of a new academic year nearly upon us, it is time to review the changes in faculty and staff that have happened since we wrote about transitions in 2015.
