BETWEEN PHOTOGRAPHY AND
COLLAGE AND SPECIFICALLY
HOW THE UTILIZING FOUND
IMAGES CAN BE A TOOL
TO COMPLICATE PHOTOGRAPHIC
HISTORY AND CONTEMPORARY
MASS CULTURE. TO FURTHER
EXAMINE OUR IMAGE BASED
SOCIETY, STUDENTS WILL
EXPERIMENT WITH A
VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES,
INCLUDING: APPROPRIATION,
DIGITAL MONTAGE, PHYSICAL
AND IN CAMERA COLLAGE,
THE ACT OF COLLECTING
AND BUILDING OF A PERSONAL
ARCHIVE. WE WILL DISCUSS
WORK BY BOTH PROMINENT
CONTEMPORARY AND WESTERN
ART HISTORICAL ARTISTS
WHO HAVE USED COLLAGE
AS A SUBVERSIVE ACT.
THIS CLASS WILL CONSIST
OF BOTH IN CLASS AND AT
HOME COLLAGE EXPERIMENTATION,
READINGS, AND DISCUSSION.
