Exploring Intimate Communication Channels for Long-Distance Relationships

Jooyeon Oh. "Exploring Intimate Communication Channels for Long-Distance Relationships." MDes Thesis, University of Washington, 2019.

This thesis explores finding interpersonal values for long-distance relationships and building new communication systems. Her technology probe, Scentie-Talkie, posits that olfaction could play a role in evoking and capturing memories, sharing presence, and creating a long-term remote connection. She probes into distant others to communicate through a sense of smell documenting their thoughts and feelings while using the system.
