"Corrugated Cardboard Stools", University of Washington, 2026.

These stools were designed by freshmen in DESIGN 166 in Winter 2025, tackling an ambitious challenge: create a stool that supports a 180-pound adult using only a single 4' × 8' sheet of corrugated cardboard—without glue or fasteners. Corrugated cardboard is economical and lightweight, yet remarkably strong when folded. As a sustainable resource, cardboard can be recycled or composted after use, making the resulting seating ideal for temporary applications such as concerts, outdoor events, or pop-up installation. The project demonstrates how creative thinking and practical problem solving can be combined to transform everyday materials into functional objects.
