Tad Hirsch. "Designing Material Participation." Keynote presentation at Better World by Design (BWxD) Conference, Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design, September 23, 2016.

From the BWxD 2016 website:

This talk introduces material participation as a construct for political action whose emphasis on everyday interactions between people and products is particularly well-suited for design. Working through examples, several strategies to facilitate material participation through design are considered, and are situated in relation to other, more familiar approaches to political engagement.
