During 2016, Rounthwaite applied for a Royalty Research Fund Scholar award for course release and travel support in order to do research on the Group of Six Artists (Grupa Šestorice Autora), an art collective based in Zagreb, in the former Yugoslavia, active from 1975 to 1979. She learned in January 2017 that she had received funding. This, combined with a Junior Faculty Development Quarter, will allow her to do research in Croatia and write two chapters of a proposed book between June 2017 and March 2018. She will apply for additional grants to support book production once a publisher has accepted her proposal.
