In Autumn 2025, Industrial Design seniors in DES 445 with Assistant Professor Meichun Liu, collaborated with Precor, a global product design company dedicated to providing optimal and refined exercise equipment. The project challenged students to envision the future of fitness and wellness equipment for commercial environments.

The 3-month collaboration resulted in six design proposals, including a guided boxing trainer, a recovery roller massager, an office stretch pod, an assistive stretching machine, a deep core engagement device, and a muscle engagement sensor (sEMG) system. Collectively, these concepts articulate forward-looking visions for the next generation of fitness and wellness experiences, integrating emerging technologies with evolving user needs in commercial spaces. The students presented their final designs at Precor headquarters in Woodinville in December 2025.
