Crossings, September 9–October 4, 2025, Jacob Lawrence Gallery, Seattle, Washington

The Jacob Lawrence Gallery presented Crossings, which featured the work of Rob Rhee, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Interdisciplinary Visual Art program in the School of Art + Art History + Design at the University of Washington.

Crossings brought together newly completed bricolage sculptures from Rhee’s studio with research initiated last spring at the UW Farm. Taking inspiration from inosculated trees, which merge with their neighbors to form bodily hybrid bodies, Rhee worked with grafting as a sculptural process for making experimental connections.

This exhibition opened on September 9 (with a reception from 5–7pm) and ran through October 4, 2025. As part of the UW faculty promotion process, a public lecture by Rhee took place on Thursday, September 25, from 6-7pm in Room 229 of the Art building on the UW Seattle campus.

The exhibition was featured in University of Washington Magazine and an interview was conducted with Rob Rhee.
