Kerry Tribe: Standardized Patient
The Jacob Lawrence Gallery presents Standardized Patient by artist Kerry Tribe. The exhibition offers insight into the work of actors trained to portray medical patients in simulated clinical encounters. It runs July 27 through August 25.

2018 Seattle Art Fair and Beyond
The School and Jacob Lawrence Gallery are once-again cultural partners of the fair. There are a number of School-affiliated people who have work being shown at the fair as well as at Seattle-area exhibitions during the fair.

Megumi Shauna Arai: Midst
The Jacob Lawrence Gallery presents Midst by artist Megumi Shauna Arai. The exhibition is a meditation on the nature of belonging. It runs June 26 through July 14 with a reception on June 28.

Faculty + Alums at 4Culture
4Culture announced its 2018–2019 season of exhibitions on April 4. One faculty member (Ellen Garvens) and two alums will be showing in the Storefront Media Gallery while a faculty member (Kate Roberts) and three alums will have Gallery 4Culture exhibitions.

OMA&D 50th Anniversary Exhibition
Associate Professor Kristine Matthews, her Studio Matthews, and students in DESIGN 467 have been involved in developing an exhibition to celebrate OMA&D's history. It is on view May 1 – June 13 in Allen Library North.

MFA + MDes Thesis Exhibition
Nine Master of Fine Arts and four Master of Design students are participating in this graduation exhibition at the Henry Art Gallery. The public reception is June 1, 7–9pm, and the exhibition runs from May 26 through June 24.

Spafford Exhibition + Book Launch
Join us in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery on Apr 6 for the launch of a book titled Michael C. Spafford: Epic Works. An exhibition of Spafford's work opens at three Seattle galleries on Apr 5.

Kollar American Art Lecture – Michael Lobel
Hosted by the Division of Art History on April 26, this lecture is titled "Iconic Encounter: Gordon Parks and Ella Watson in 1942." It is free and open to the public, but please RSVP to save a seat.

2018 Graduation Exhibitions
Each year we celebrate graduating Art and Design undergraduate and graduate students with a series of exhibitions in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery and Henry Art Gallery. Join us for one or more of these in April, May, and June.

Strange Coupling
A student-run Division of Art tradition, Strange Coupling brings together UW students and Seattle-area artists to create collaboratively. There are March events at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery and a concluding exhibition later in the spring.

Mid-Century Design at Cascadia
Cascadia Art Museum is showing Northwest Design at Mid-Century through Mar 25, 2018. One-third of the artists and designers selected for the exhibition are School faculty and/or alums.

3D4M Open House
Join us on Tuesday, Feb 20, for the open house at our CMA Building. There will be much to explore in our ceramic, glass, and sculpture facilities; two galleries; and student studios.

C. Davida Ingram: A Book with No Pages
C. Davida Ingram is the 2018 Jacob Lawrence Legacy Resident at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery, supported by an NEA Art Works grant. Her exhibition, A Book with No Pages, opens on Feb 6 and closes Mar 13.

MDes Thesis Poster Session
This event on Jan 4 allows Master of Design students to share their in-progress theses projects. Attendees are encouraged to give feedback to students in an informal setting.

Suyama Space
Many in Seattle were saddened in 2015 when co-founders Beth Sellars and George Suyama announced that Suyama Space would be closing. A beautiful new book documents the exhibitions there.

Hues at Cascadia
Two print exhibitions are on view at Cascadia Art Museum in Edmonds, Washington, through Jan 7. Among the artists in these exhibitions are several with School ties.

2018 Critical Issues in Contemporary Art Practice Lecture Series
This 7-speaker series starts on Jan 11 and ends on Mar 8. It is free and open to the public. Sponsored by The Boeing Company and The Dale and Leslie Chihuly Foundation.

Spatial Politics
Join us in the Jacob Lawrence Gallery on Dec 6 for a discussion led by Barbara Earl Thomas and Fionn Meade on the structure of non-profit art institutions centered on exhibition-making.

Wilson + Tropical Lab 11
Caitlyn Wilson, a second year MFA student, attended Tropical Lab 11 in Singapore this summer. She has an exhibition of work inspired by that experience with a reception on Nov 13.

Making our Mark
This Bellevue Arts Museum exhibition from Nov 10 through Apr 8 shows many artists who have taught at Pratt Fine Arts Center. Among them are a number of our alums, including three who work here now.

Material Performance: Part II
This exhibition at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery brings together work by alums, faculty, and other artists. It runs Nov 8 through Dec 9 with a reception on Nov 9.

Student Work at Meany Center
Thirteen students have work on display in the lower lobby of Meany Center on campus through May 2018. Be sure to view the exhibition the next time you attend a performance.

Roberts Wins Swiss Award
3D4M Lecturer Kate Roberts was invited to participate in this year's Parcours Céramique Carougeois in Switzerland. She built Gate to nowhere on site, and she won the Fondation Bruckner Award.

Material Performance: Second Year MFA
An exhibition at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery featuring recent work by artists beginning their second year in the MFA program. Opens September 27 at 6pm and runs through November 4.

Out of Sight
It is the third year for this survey exhibition of contemporary Northwest art, which opens at the same time as Seattle Art Fair in early August and then runs every weekend through the end of the month.

Familiar Faces & New Voices
An exhibition at Tacoma Art Museum surveys Northwest art in their permanent collection. Eighteen of the sixty artists are School alums and/or faculty. The exhibition remains on view through summer 2019.

4Culture Art Projects Grants
Early in the summer, 4Culture announced its 2017 Art Projects grants to individuals. Three alums received funding: Eirik Johnson, Paul Komada, and Margie Livingston.

Faculty + Alum in Anniversary Exhibition
Traver Gallery in Seattle is celebrating its fourtieth anniversary with a July exhibition that includes more than forty artists. Among them are three faculty, the School's Director, and one alum.

Bellingham National
The Whatcom Museum is showing the second Bellingham National Juried Art Exhibition until September 10. Sixty artworks by twenty-nine artists from around the country are on view. Four are our alums.

Untold Passage
This Jacob Lawrence Gallery exhibition presents the work of artists recovering the unwritten histories of immigrant communities shown alongside the work of contemporary poets. Opens July 7 and runs through August 18.
