Computer + Printing Lab
The Photo/Media + IVA Digital Lab provides fully-calibrated photo and video imaging workflows, extensive paper/media options for low-cost digital printing, and access to high-end workstations with storage for extended editing and rendering of 4K and HD video projects for Photo/Media graduate and undergraduate majors. Student access from other School programs granted on a case-by-case basis.
Computer + Printing Equipment
Our professional digital printers can print a range of sizes up to 44-inch wide. In-house computers, scanners, and printers include:
- Eight Mac Mini and two Mac Studio workstations with professional video and photo editing displays
- Epson V700 and Epson V850 flatbed scanners
- Six Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printers
- Epson 44” wide printer
Darkroom
The Photo/Media Darkroom offers space for students to develop black & white film along with thirteen enlarging stations for enlargements. Student access from other UW programs is granted with a quarterly fee that can be paid in the equipment checkout room with an Instructional Technician.
Lighting Studio
The Lighting Studio offers a space with soft boxes, continuous lighting, a green screen, and multiple seamless background options.
Sound Studio
The Sound Studio is where Art students can create and mix audio, as well as record audio using the whisper room isolation booth. It features an acoustically-treated mixing space with studio monitors, MIDI controllers, as well as a Mac Studio with Logic Pro, Ableton, and other professional audio mixing software. Student access from other UW programs is granted on a case-by-case basis.
Equipment Checkout Room
Digital still cameras, video cameras, analog cameras, and lighting equipment are also available for checkout to undergraduate Photo/Media, IVA students, and New Genres graduate students. Graduate student access from other School programs is granted on a case-by-case basis. Equipment includes digital and film cameras, field audio equipment, lighting equipment, displays, & other camera gear and accessories.
The equipment checkout room is adjoined to the Photo/Media + IVA digital lab and checkout hours are M-F, 10am-5pm.
