Pivot project
Congratulations to the second-year graduate students in the Division of Design whose project was announced as the winner of this year’s Design Ignites Change IDEA Award on 08 February 2013. Known as Pivot, the project was created as a way to discretely empower victims of human trafficking. Twenty-four staff in a variety of full- and part-time positions are the people who keep the School of Art (SoA) running. Only one of those jobs—Administrative Services Coordinator—is currently vacant, but a new person will be hired shortly. Years of service in the SoA vary widely. Students are often so busy with school work and supporting themselves that they do not have time for other activities. Two current undergraduate students, one each from the Design and Art Divisions, have shown that taking the time to use their creative skills as a way to help others can be a rewarding and very worthwhile learning experience.
