“The purpose of art is to lay bare the questions that have been hidden by the answers.” - James Baldwin

"The academy is not paradise. But learning is a place where paradise can be created. The classroom with all its limitations remains a location of possibility. In that field of possibility we have the opportunity to labour for freedom, to demand of ourselves and our comrades, an openness of mind and heart that allows us to face reality even as we collectively imagine ways to move beyond boundaries, to transgress. This is education as the practice of freedom." - Bell Hooks

This class1 is based on group intelligence. We will focus on what it means to learn as a group. We will work together; explore together; walk1 together; eat7 things together; laugh together, or not, together3.

In a hands-on way we will try out different methods4 of looking at and listening to2, and thinking about what we make. How do we speak6 to others about their process4 and what they have created?5

At its best, learning is a feedback8 loop. Day after day, you will have the opportunity to effect1 how much others get out of their education and visa versa1. This class will be full of interactions. Come ready3!
